The Heart of Love

1Corinthians 13:1-3  1  Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Genuine love is manifested in the child of God by the grace of God for the glory of God.  Love is not selfish.  Love is not proud.  When this type of love is understood, embraced, and given, it is satisfaction and contentment on the highest level.  Where have you seen this type of love in your life?

As a believer receives by faith through grace the forgiveness of God,  love is known in the soul.  Love is experienced.  Love is a spiritual force that changes the course of a person’s life.  Suddenly we are in awe of God as seeing HIM who is invisible.  The love that is now in us and we enjoy, we give back to him in worship.  This godly love in us reflects back through our soul to HIS heart.  His love is the seed from where our love grows.  It grows for HIM and it grows for others.  Do you know God’s forgiveness and love?

He loves us.  We receive that love.  We enjoy that love and we in turn love God and others.  God is love and HE makes a sovereign decision to love us.

John_3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

My understanding of love before salvation was that I needed it.  I needed love.  I had tremendous needs, therefore, I needed love to give me what I wanted. Isn’t that a dark thought?  I needed love to give me what I wanted. And what is it that we so desperately want?  We want the things that will give us pleasure.  I need pleasure.  I need the things that will give me pleasure.  This selfish dark attitude leads us to various forms of bondage, sorrow and suffering.  And when you have two individuals who come together both believing the other person has what it takes to make them happy, soon both are very disappointed.  Why?  Because love is not merely an emotion.  Love is an action word that begins with sacrifice. Have you known love?
